CBC Gem is available for free as an App for iPhone and iPad, Apple TV, Fire TV, Android TV, and Android phones and tablets.
Gem is also accessible online via desktop web browser at gem.cbc.ca
If you wish to access Gem on your television, this can be achieved a few ways.
Connected Devices
You can access Gem on your television by using one of the following supported devices.
These devices can be connected to an HDMI port on your television.
Chromecast
If you have a supported Google Chromecast, you can stream our content from the CBC Gem app on a mobile device (Android or iOS), or the Chrome web browser on a PC (WIN/MAC).
Fire TV Stick
The CBC Gem app is available for download on the Fire TV Stick
NVIDIA Shield
The CBC Gem app is available for download on the NVIDIA Shield.
Apple TV
The CBC Gem app is available on newer Apple TVs which have the App Store installed.
The App Store is not available on older Apple TVs with the silver remote.
Apple's AirPlay function can also be used to stream content from an iOS device to the Apple TV. You can find more information on AirPlay here.
Xbox
The CBC Gem app is now available for download on Xbox One and Xbox Series X consoles.
Smart TVs
CBC Gem app
If you have a 2020 or newer LG Smart TV, you can install the CBC Gem app from the LG Content Store.
If you have a Smart TV such as the Sony Bravia or Sharp AQUOS which is running the Android TV operating system, you can install the CBC Gem app from the TVs app store.
If you have a Smart TV running the Fire TV operating system, you can also download the CBC Gem app from that TVs app store.
Apple AirPlay
If you have a 2018 or newer Samsung smart TV, Apple's Airplay functionality was recently introduced as a software upgrade. You can read more about this and see which devices are compatible here
