Some users accessing the CBC Gem App via a Roku device may encounter one of the following messages:
- “An error has occurred. Please try again later. ERROR-MEDIAPLAYER16”.
- "An error has occurred. ERROR-0. Please try again later”.
What causes this issue
These errors occur when the Roku device does not have enough available memory to properly stream CBC Gem content.
To run the Gem app smoothly, your Roku device must have at least 1 GB of memory.
Devices with only 512 MB of memory will experience playback errors such as ERROR-0 or ERROR-MEDIAPLAYER16.
Below is a list of Roku devices that have 512 MB of memory and may not work properly with the Gem App.
Roku model numbers are represented as series.
For example, in the chart below, model number 3700X refers to a series of devices, with 00X being a placeholder for various Roku device IDs. If your Roku model number is 3705CA, it would fall under the 3700X series shown in the chart below (3705CA = 3700X).

From the Roku Home screen, scroll down and select Settings.
Select System.
Choose About.
Your device name and model number will be displayed under Model.
Workaround for iPhone and iPad owners
If your Roku device supports AirPlay, you can still enjoy CBC Gem content by streaming directly from your iPhone or iPad to your Roku device using AirPlay.
