With a free CBC Gem account you can enjoy features such as Favourites.
Build a list of your favourite on demand content (Coronation Street, Heartland, The National...) for easy access!
An account will also enable you to continue any on demand content from where you left off on any device supported by Gem, including our new apps for Roku and Samsung TV.
With a free Gem account you can:
- Watch current and past seasons of favourite shows on demand (ad supported)
- Add video on demand content to a Favourites list for easy access
- Resume watching programs on any supported device
- Live stream CBC TV, including access to all 14 local channels from across the country and their news broadcasts.
- Live News and Sports streams

- Ad-free kids programming

- Opt in or out of subscriptions to CBC newsletters on a wide range of subjects

What if you choose not to create a free Gem account?
If you don't wish to sign in or create a free Gem account, you will still have access to the following content on Gem:
- Live stream CBC TV (Ottawa)
- Live News and Sports streams
- Live event specials such as The JUNOS and The Legacy Awards
- Ad-free kids programming
If you already have a CBC Gem account, whether free or Premium, you only need to sign in to enjoy Gem programming.

Creating your account
To create your Free Gem account just head over to the CBC Gem website and select the Create an Account option on the top right corner of the screen.
You can also create an account from most of the devices the Gem app is supported on.
