CBC selects the type of moderation that best suits the community, platform and subject. Moderation can be proactive or reactive, manual or automated.
Manual moderation means a person manually reviews the submission and makes a decision to (approve, reject or escalate/get another opinion).
Automated moderation means a machine reviews the submission and makes a decision to (approve, reject or escalate/get another opinion).
Proactive moderation encompasses both pre- and post-moderation.
- “Pre-moderation” means a submission is reviewed BEFORE it is published or broadcast.
- “Post-moderation” means a submission is reviewed within a reasonable period of time AFTER it is published.
Reactive moderation means a submission is ONLY reviewed as a result of being reported for review by a community member.
