Digital over-the-air (OTA) transmission is available in areas with a CBC production centre. Check our CBC Channels & Frequencies Guide to see if there is a CBC TV transmitter in your area.
If you are within the service area covered by a CBC transmitter you should be able to receive our signal. If you have problems getting clear reception, you can try the following tips:
1. Install an outdoor antenna. Place it up high on a roof or mast to maximize signal reception;
2. If you can't install an outside antenna, try an indoor one in an attic or second storey location, preferably by a window;
3. Antennas can be directional (pointed specifically at the transmission tower) or multi-directional. Depending on the topography around you, one may work better than another;
4. Many antenna and scanning set-ups have an amplification system. Try your system first with the amp off - some can cause distortion. Then rescan with the amplifier on to see if reception improves.
If you are outside the range of a CBC transmitter, many CBC programs – including local and national CBC News shows, sports, and more – are available to stream on demand on our website or our apps. Visit the CBC Player and CBC Gem website or download the CBC Gem app (iOS or Android), for a sample of programs available.
