People impersonating CBC employees have been sending emails to individuals, offering interviews on CBC shows — and asking for payment for an accompanying “promotional campaign.”
The impersonators claim to be a producer or researcher from a CBC show. They are not CBC employees, and CBC does not offer paid promotions for interviews.
People impersonating CBC staff have also been emailing companies and groups seeking free tickets to events. While CBC journalists may accept tickets for the purpose of doing reviews or covering an event for news purposes, they rarely make such requests themselves; if you receive one, please make sure it comes from a valid CBC staff email, as described above.
CBC journalists or personalities will never appear in an ad encouraging you to invest money in a financial product, fund or service. CBC News will never encourage you to invest in a financial product, fund or service in a news report.
Remember: CBC staff will never ask you for money, including bank transfers or online payments. They will never ask for payment in interview requests.
