Finding stories from Canada’s most trusted news source is easier once you set CBC as a preferred news source in Google. You can set a preferred news source in an app or a website.
1. Enter a search subject in the Google App.
2. Scroll down to the Top Stories section.
3. Click on the star card icon on the right.
4. A pop-up window will appear, prompting you to “Choose your preferred source.”
5. Type “CBC.ca” into the search bar and check the black box to select CBC as a preferred source.
There are two simple ways to add CBC as a preferred Google news source.
Option 1
1. Log-in to your Google account.
2. Access Google’s Preferences settings.
3. Type “CBC.ca” into the search bar and check the black box to select CBC as a preferred source.
Option 2
1. Use Google to search the day’s headlines.
2. Select the white star icon to the right of the “Top Stories” header.
3. A pop-up window will appear, prompting you to “Choose your preferred source.”
4. Type “CBC.ca” into the search bar and check the black box to select CBC as a preferred source.

1. Use Google to search “Google News”
2. Type “CBC” into the Search bar.
3. Select the Follow button.
You can choose more than one preferred news source. And your Google searches will still provide you with results from other news outlets.
