If you are not a Stream+ bundle customer, you can also purchase a standalone Premium subscription from Telus for $5.99 month/+ tax.
What is CBC Gem?
CBC Gem is CBC's digital video streaming service.
With a basic free subscription you get access to ad-supported streams of the best shows, movies, news, documentaries, and more.
Plus access live TV streams from up to 14 regions across Canada.
With Gem Premium, go above and beyond and enjoy ad-free video-on-demand content (excludes live streams), early access to Gem exclusive programming, and access to CBC News Network.

How do I sign up for Gem Premium through Telus?
You can sign up for Gem Premium for $5.99 a month (+ tax), from Telus by heading to this page.
Once you subscribe to CBC Gem Premium with TELUS, you will receive an activation email to activate CBC Gem Premium. Click “Activate now” and follow the steps provided in the email to start accessing your CBC Gem Premium subscription.
Already a Stream+ subscriber? Add CBC Gem Premium at no extra cost.

Once you subscribe to CBC Gem Premium with TELUS, you will receive an activation email to activate CBC Gem Premium. Click “Activate now” and follow the steps provided in the email to start accessing your CBC Gem Premium subscription.
What if I already have an active Gem Premium subscription?
Subscription via Gem website -
Payment by Credit Card directly
If you currently subscribe to CBC Gem Premium via CBC and your payment is by credit card directly (not through Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Roku Pay), your subscription will be cancelled automatically once you activate your Gem Premium subscription via Telus. This is to avoid any double-billing.
If you do not want your current subscription via CBC to end immediately, you can first cancel your subscription renewal from the Account section of the Gem website.
This will let you use Gem Premium with your current credit card payment until the end of your billing cycle.
At that point your Gem subscription will revert to a free tier and you can then add the Premium subscription through Telus.
Subscription via the Gem app -
Payment by Apple, Google or Roku
If you currently have a Premium Gem subscription which you paid for from our Gem app using Apple, Google or Roku Pay, you will not be able to add a subscription via Telus until your current subscription has ended.
