If you have difficulty reading closed captions while watching videos due to small font sizes, font styles or font colours, you can customize the font in your system settings. In this article, we’ll guide you through the process on Mac, PC and mobile devices.
Mac
On macOS, you can customize the closed captions by following the steps below:
- Go to the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen and select “System Settings”.
- Select "Accessibility" and then navigate to "Captions".
- customize your preferences by choosing from the built-in styles or create your own style by selecting the “+” button.

PC
On a Windows 10 PC, you can customize the closed captions by following the steps below:
- Go to the Windows menu in the bottom-left corner of your screen and select "Settings".
- Select “Ease of Access” and navigate to “closed captions”
- customize your preferences by choosing the font, style and colour of your choice.
On a Windows 11 PC, you can customize the closed captions by following the steps below:
- Go to the Windows menu in the bottom-left corner of your screen and select "Settings".
- Select “Preferences” and select “Caption style”.

iPhone & iPad
On an iPhone or iPad, you can customize the closed captions by following the steps below:
- Go to “Settings”, select “Accessibility” then select “Subtitles and Captioning”.
- Select “Style” then choose your preferred style from the built-in styles or create your own style by selecting “Create New Style”.
- Customize your preferences by choosing the font, style and colour of your choice.

Android
On an Android device, you can customize the closed captions by following the steps below:
- Go to “Settings”, select “Accessibility” and then select “Hearing enhancements”.
- Select “Caption preference”.
- Select “Caption size and style”
- To change caption size, tap “Text size”, then select the text size.
- To change the style and colour for caption text and background, tap “Caption style”, then select the style
