CBC selects the type of moderation that best suits the community, platform and subject. Moderation can be proactive or reactive, human or algorithmic.
Human moderation means a human manually reviews the submission.
Algorithmic moderation means a submission is reviewed by an algorithm that decides whether to publish a submission, reject a submission or send it to a human for review.
Proactive moderation encompasses both pre- and post-moderation.
- “Pre-moderation” means a submission is reviewed BEFORE it is published or broadcast.
- “Post-moderation” means a submission is reviewed within a reasonable period of time AFTER it is published.
Reactive moderation means a submission is ONLY reviewed as a result of being flagged for review by a community member.
