General or specific concerns:
Every Canadian is entitled to accuracy, balance and integrity in CBC’s journalism, and CBC recognizes your right to hold us accountable for the quality of our News coverage.
If you have concerns regarding the facts or views featured in a CBC News story – be it online or on air – you can share your feedback in the following ways:
- Contact us and we’ll relay your comments to the appropriate journalists and editors at CBC News
- Submit typographical or factual errors directly to the story reporter and editors through the “Report Typo or Error” link located at the bottom of the online story featured on cbc.ca/news
- Questions or comments regarding a local story should be directed to your regional newsroom
- Concerns regarding journalistic balance and integrity in CBC's news and information programs can be directed to the CBC Ombudsman
If you are concerned that CBC News has not reported on a specific story that you feel warrants coverage, please note that not every story is covered on all CBC platforms. For example, a local story might have been reported on a regional radio news update, but not on the regional website or CBC’s national news programs.
In other situations, with international events, CBC News must independently confirm the authenticity of possible news stories before reporting. CBC News won't report on any story, until it can confirm all the details.
In the event that you feel we have not covered a particular subject, we encourage you to do a thorough search of all stories on cbc.ca/news to ensure you haven’t missed any coverage of the story you are seeking. If you are still unable to find a given item and would like to request coverage, contact us and we’ll share your request with CBC
Can you remove a story from the website?
We generally do not agree to requests to remove published material from our web pages.
Our published content is a matter of public record. To change the content of previously published material alters that record. Altering the record could undermine our credibility and the public's trust in our journalism.
There can be exceptions to this position -- where there are legal or personal safety considerations to the person named.
Requests to remove material should be addressed to: CBC Audience Services.
(We will update a story when new information becomes available. If you have new information about a story, you can send it, along with the appropriate URL via link above)
Contacting our Ombudsman:
Please visit the Ombudsman’s website if you wish to file a complaint about CBC's News and current affairs programming only.
IMPORTANT: Entertainment, sports, advertisements and other non-news programming as well as technical issues are beyond the mandate and jurisdiction of the Ombudsman's office. Please contact CBC National Audience Services with questions or complaints about these issues.
In addition, the Ombudsman does not respond to issues around commenting and/or moderation and has no power to approve or delete user comments on CBC.ca stories.
