To ensure that CBC Gem is performing efficiently and offering viewers the best possible experience, we routinely need to perform updates to our service.
These updates would take place during periods in the day where we've determined a brief service interruption would impact the fewest number of viewers as possible across all time zones.
During these maintenance periods you will not have access to CBC Gem.
Upon trying to access our service on web (gem.cbc.ca) or app, you will be presented with a message informing you that we are currently undergoing maintenance.
These maintenance windows can vary in length depending on the work that needs to be performed, but are generally completed within an hour.
If we require our service to be down for longer periods of time, users will be emailed in advance informing of the upcoming outage.
On rare occasions we may need to perform emergency updates outside of our preferred timeframes.
Our main concern is offering the best service possible to our viewers, so we will always take every means possible to get things up and running without compromising the quality of our service.
