Reporting questionable submissions is the most effective way to bring comments and associated accounts to the moderators’ attention. We ask that you ignore or mute community members who you feel are engaging in ways counter to our Submission Guidelines.
We do ban accounts in some situations. Bans are usually temporary and account holders are encouraged to review the Submission Guidelines. Sometimes we decide to apply a permanent ban but we carefully consider this because banning users isn’t always an effective deterrent in the online world, as the user may simply register another account. This puts our moderation team at a disadvantage, as we don’t know who to look out for. We also find these re-registrants can return with an increasingly negative attitude. That said, we have and will continue to ban users when we feel it is necessary.
